Our Mission Statement: To train national youth workers for existing local churches within the people groups of the world.
Our Doctrinal Statement:
We Believe...
In one God: eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The Bible to be inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God, without error in the original languages and our only rule for life and practice.
In the deity and virgin birth of Christ; in His sinless Life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death; His resurrection, ascension and imminent return.
That for the salvation of the lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential, and that this salvation is wholly of grace through faith in the atoning death of the son of God.
In the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to lead a Godly life.
That the church consists of all who trust in Christ and are true believers in His atoning death.
That prayer is the foundation of ministry and thus YMI's board and staff are committed to prayer first, then action. |
Trained In Order To Train.....

Christianity would have died a long time ago if leadership development had not occurred. If the apostles had not trained others to take the reins of Christianity, it may never have made it past the first century. This principle holds true to the present day. New generations continue to need new leaders. Youth Ministry International believes that youth are capable not only of being trained to be leaders, and thereby replicate Jesus Christ in others, but that youth are actually the most important part of developing a new generation of Christian leaders in developing countries. This is perhaps most clearly seen in YMI's desire to send short-term International Youth Leadership Trainers, whose task it is to equip national youth workers with the vision and skills necessary to carry out the work of evangelism and discipleship in their own youth communities.
YMI's Ultimate Goal
It is the establishment of youth ministries in foreign lands that are capable of functioning independently of YMI's resources and input is YMI's final goal. This is accomplished when, following a two to five-year training period under an International Youth Leadership Trainer, the national youth leader is able to develop, maintain, and expand his or her own indigenous youth program and student outreach. This training program includes the development of culturally relevant vehicles for evangelistic outreach, discipleship, and leadership for lay-workers and teens. It will also include involvement with the local schools and community in an effort to establish working relationships from which the program can aggressively permeate its youth community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ

Ministry Distinctives
LOCAL CHURCH -BASED STRATEGIES Youth discipleship is ultimately the ministry of the national /local church. Therefore all YMI strategies are supportive, based on local church involvement and direction . ADEQUATE PREPARATION All International Youth Trainers are fully trained in YMI's philosophy of local church youth ministry and United World Mission's School of Intercultural Studies.
SHORT-TERM INTERNAIONAL TRAINERS l Youth Trainers serve for three to five years on mission fields where the nationals request our involvement and where there are minimum language barriers and cultural incompatibility. All training is practical and vocational, and relates to the culture and real-life needs of local youth.
TRAINING, THEN LEAVING Following training, nationals operate independently to build the kingdom with their own youth. All systems in foreign countries are natural to the culture and are designed to be self-supporting, not requiring continual dependence upon outside financial resources.
MINISTRY CONFERENCES In order to assist the nationals, churches, and local missionaries in understanding the YMI philosophy, each new mission field provides an appropriate opportunity to present a YMI Youth Ministry Conference
TRAINING A NEW GENERATION OF LEADERS On mission fields where the national church recognizes the need for trained professional youth workers, YMI strives to provide itinerant youth ministry educators as well as assist in the development of youth curriculum for local Bible colleges and seminaries.
MINISTRY PARTNERSHIPS In order to maximize available resources for frontline ministry, YMI maintains strong partnerships with other organizations such as United World Mission and International Teams, for intercultural training, recruiting, placement, and operational support.
FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP YMI does not operate from a position of either indebtedness or endowment, believing that the Lord will provide the necessary resources for His work. A major percentage of all donations go directly to the mission field; this is possible because YMI's efforts are directed largely through volunteer leadership and all International Youth Trainers raise their own support
